Overseas Field Trip Program (Cultural sites)

Introduction
Global Leaders Program has been organizing the Overseas Field Trips annually since 2004 under the Department of Political Science and International Relations.

The objectives of the Overseas Field Trips are as follows:

Firstly, the Overseas Field Trip program provides the Department of Political Science and International Relations students to visit East Asian and other fascinating countries around the world in this dynamic 21st century. Through the more hands-down experience of field trips, the major seeks to help the students balance their theoretical classroom studies with practical experience-based knowledge.
Secondly, the Overseas Field Trip program encourages a closer relationship between the students and the professors of Department of Political Science and International Relations as they interact with each other outside the usual classroom setting.
The second year students of the corresponding years will help decide the location of the field trip. Because the students are introduced into the Department of Political Science and International Relations in their third year, it is not easy for them to develop close relationships among themselves in their second years. Thus, we hope that these educational field trips not only enable the students to learn more about the world they are living in, but also a chance to get to know and cooperate with each other. It is not often that the students are given a chance to interact so closely with their fellow classmates at a time when they are filled with dreams and aspirations about their future. Such an intimate friendship developed in their second years can be sustained throughout their time at college and even after graduation.
About the Program
Overseas Field Trip of Cultural Sites program is based on the 1-unit course that is held every semester where students pursue their research about the cultural site (general region) to be visited at the end of the semester. In this seminar course, 20~30 students gather to debate about issues in a small-scale seminar format. The students aim to construct and conduct research on their desired topics, individually or in small groups of 2 to 4, and present their findings in their final reports (papers).
